Have you heard of the 10,000 Hour rule? Malcolm Gladwell mentioned it in his book, "Outliers." Which he referenced from a paper by Psychologist, Anders Ericsson of Florida State University -- Sup, Noles. (more than a football team).

Anyway... it says something like it takes 10,000 hours of doing something to become a master of it. I though it might be fun to show Beeple's EVERYDAYS "crap" at 1-10,000 Hours (at 1000 hour intervals) and see the progress...

1000 hours / 3 hours (estimated time spent per day) = 333.3 days

Hour 1: 01 MAY 2007

Thoughts:* shit, i could do that. looks like something i sketched on my trapper-keeper during shop class.

Hour 1000: 29 March 2008

Maybe from one of my kid's library books.

Hour 2000: 25 Feb 2009

he's just learned perspective.

Hour 3000: 24 Jan 2010

must have got his 3-D program recently.

Hour 4000: 31 Dec 2010

Beeple: "hey, up here!" (dude looks up) Beeple: "Merry Christmas you filthy animal."

Hour 5000: 29 Nov 2011

Now we are getting somewhere.

Hour 6000: 27 Oct 2012

A.L.F.'s chemistry set?

Hour 7000: 27 Sep 2013

looks like the base of a lightsaber. I knew Beeps was a Star Wars, nerd.

Hour 8000: 25 Aug 2014

the predator's vagina?

Hour 9000: 24 July 2015

postcard from Krypton.

Hour 10000: 22 June 2016

Yup...Mastered.

*my thoughts are tongue-in-cheek. Clearly Beeple is extremely talented, next level even. Hell, would send my pinky finger to him for an original. Anyone think he mastered this at a different time? Personally, I think the real tipping point was the "lightsaber."
